Who is Praxis Academy For?

Praxis is a 2 year (+ Optional Post Grad 3rd year) program for ANYONE 18 years and older, who so desires to learn more about God and Christianity.  It is for anyone who wants to work in full time ministry under one of the five fold ministry gifts.  It is for anyone who wants to understand the what's and how's of the Holy Spirit and how He applies to the daily grind.  It is for anyone who doesn't want to be a 'minister', but simply wants more knowledge.  It is for anyone who wants experience and hands on training in all aspects of ministry.  It is for anyone who is curious about the God stuff and wants to expand their understanding.  It is for anyone who wants more than just a classroom, but craves a starting point in their quest to simply help people.  Praxis is for all of the above and many more... bottom line is that Praxis is for YOU. 

What sets Praxis Academy apart?

There are many options for theology, leadership & ministry training throughout Southern California, in fact, our Academy Director founded and successfully ran a couple schools that are still functioning to this day.  So why is Praxis a good or in most cases a better option?  It's simple... PRAXIS.  Praxis by definition is the process by which a theory, lesson or skill is enacted, practiced, embodied or realized.  This Academy has been designed to take the learning process further than ever before.  Into the realm of tangible experiences.  This academy pin points the gifts and callings of the individual and with the guidance of our capable staff, assists each student into the art of action.  The teaching at Praxis is unmatched anywhere else through the use of a dynamic curriculum that has been developed and honed over the last 30+ years.  This academy is set apart by the follow through and the dedication and promise to help each and every student get ALL that they desire out of this experience for the now & the future.

What is the Praxis goal for each student?

Our goal is to see each and every student gain an individual understanding of God, the Holy Spirit, Jesus and the bible like they have never had before.  Our goal is also to see every student find their purpose within the Kingdom of God with a clear vision of how to apply this purpose to their current life and how to navigate this purpose into their future.  Our job as we see it, is to prepare each student and equip them with what they need to step out and DO GREAT THINGS in the world.   Our promise is to follow through with each student, so that they don't just gain mass amounts of knowledge without any application.  It's our goal to get our students mobilized and living the dream from the moment they step into the classroom and for the rest of their lives.

When/What is Registration & Orientation?

The next Praxis Academy Registration/Orientation day will be held in APRIL 2012.  Registration lines open at 2pm and Orientation will conclude at 4pm.  ALL students are REQUIRED to attend this day.  School photos will be taken, so dress appropriately.  After registering with our Admin Staff, students will be directed to our lounge area for coffee and appetizers while connecting with assigned study groups with our Student Advisor.  Students will then meet with our Academy Director & the Praxis Team who will cover all that the students need to know about the upcoming year.  There will be a Q & A time for students who require a bit more information and the night will end on time at 8pm with each student well prepared for their first day.

When does school actually start?

The 2012 school is current in session, for all those who are waiting to jump in during the next intake period in APRIL 2012 please check back for more specific dates and times.  This first day is REQUIRED for ALL students to attend (Sundays thereafter are only mandatory for 2nd & Post Grad Students).

What if I don't own a computer?

Praxis does the majority of it's administration online, giving each student the ability to track their work, grades, tuition status & much more on their own convenient time schedule.  Each student will be able to submit assignments online, connect with Staff online, have study group sessions online, as well as, getting updates & information about school events & extra credit.  Bottom line is that every student needs to have access to a computer.  There is a communal computer station available for students only in the Student Lounge for those who are yet to jump into the 21st Century.

Will I get a degree?

Praxis is a 2 year required program that offers an AA Degree in Biblical Studies at the end of those 2 years.  For those who would like to further their education and strive for a higher degree, we offer our Post Grad Program which equates to a 3rd year commitment requirement.  At the end of the 3rd year program (with all sufficient credits) a Bachelors Degree in Biblical Study & Application will be given.

If I am an Alumni, am I also a Post Grad?

No.  If you are an Alumni of a recognized affiliate school, you are invited to join the A.R.C. (Alumni Resource Center) for a yearly fee of $35.  Your ARC membership allows you to sit in as many first and second year courses as you desire.  If you are an Alumni and would like to further your ministry education (with a possible goal of earning a higher degree through Praxis) you must Apply Online to become a Post Grad Student.  Post Grad classes are offered to Alumni ONLY and are $80 per class per trimester.  Only Post Grad Students are able to take Post Grad Classes.  All Post Grad students are automatic ARC members (with the yearly $35 fee waived).
